Horrifying Pictures of New York City Crimes Scenes from the Early 1900s

There’s no gif in existence to properly express my sad. (But feel free to try if you want.)
I spent the first day of the new year at the Museum of the Moving Image in my ‘hood (Astoria, NY) and I highly recommend taking the quick train ride out of Manhattan for a visit. Right now there’s a great Jim Henson exhibit, as well as permanent exhibits that encompass cameras, lighting, sound, costumes, actors, make-up, special FX. Basically every aspect of the film and TV business is covered. Plus, every day there are different screenings of films in their theater and they are included in the price of admission ($12 for adults). Today I saw one of my favorite films, The Prestige, on the big screen for the first time.
Afterward I also went and saw The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo at the regular movie theater around the corner.
Starting the new year immersed in the world of moving pictures was an excellent choice.
To go along with that last post, I just want to say a big thank you to everyone in my life who made 2011 the fantastic year that it was. Yes, I did a lot and had so many wonderful experiences, but it wasn’t the events that made them such, it was the people I was with.
Two trumpet players are playing Christmas carols outside the Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle. Two other people just passing by stop and say to them “Hey, do you want some more horns?” and they whip out their own trumpets and join them.
Beautiful.
Apparently The Doctor traded in the Tardis for the more economical Hyundai Elantra. And also moved to Queens. Times really are tough everywhere.
